In today’s update, we return to Dr Amanpreet Qareen and his suddenly daughterless life, and find that at least he has someone to turn to in these moments of hardship.
We met Bayani Torres briefly when he was helping Dr Qareen prepare for the mass casualty bombardment that thankfully never came.

Travelodge exterior, night.
PITA (off-panel): Jan Nowak is coming in for his testicular scan on Thursday.
BAYANI (off-panel): I know, Aman.
PITA (off-panel): And be careful with taking Doris Keely’s sample on Friday, she drinks with her Bridge pals for Friday lunch which sometimes skews the results.
BAYANI (off-panel): I know, Aman.
Panel 2:
Pita and his nurse Bayani walk up to the Qareen’s temporary front door.
PITA: Don’t “I know” me, Bayani! These things are important!
PITA: My schedule was not built for sudden absences! Lives are at stake!
BAYANI: And they’ll be taken care of, Aman, it’s what we’ve all trained for.
Panel 3:
Pita and Bayani pause at the door. Bayani holds Pita’s shoulders tenderly.
BAYANI: You need to find Si, everything else can wait.
PITA: I just wish I knew...why did she do it?
BAYANI: You’re not alone, Aman, a whole hospital has your back.
BAYANI: And you’ve got me.
Panel 4:
Pita smiles weakly as Bayani kisses him on the cheek.
BAYANI: Take care of yourself, okay?
Panel 5:
Bayani leaves. A downcast Pita opens the door behind him.
Panel 6:
Pita walks in. A crumpled paper brushes his feet.
