Panel 1 (wide):
Si is walking down an anonymous Hackney street, under the buzzing haze of a hundred telephone wires.

SI (box): I’m nobody special. Short, weird, bit ugly. I know that cuz Mona Parker told me that every morning: “you are short and weird and a bit ugly.” It was her way of saying hi.

SI (box): Reckon she was a bit not-all-there herself, come to think, but y’know…pot, kettle…

SI (box): Dad thinks I can play violin. Dad thinks I can do a lot of things that I really can’t do, but nobody likes admitting their kid’s bog-standard normal. Just cuz I can voiceover my memories now and upload them like a cute cat video, that don’t make me special.

Panel 2 (wide):
Si carries on down another street.

SI (box): “But Simar Qareen, you showed us something just now that you couldn’t possibly have seen!” Nothing to do with me, mate, that’s the String’s doing.

SI (box): Confused yet? How do you think I feel?

SI (box): Like there I was, wrapped up in my own problems, never knowing I and everybody else was feeding a huge swirling cloud of problems all around us.

Panel 3 (wide):
Si walks down a classic Victorian row to the one red brick building in the street.

SI (box): I mean, I guess we all know, deep down, we’re walking through a fog of other people’s hopes and beefs, but it’s like a feeling, a mood, not a real actual thing you can read and chart up.

SI (box): This was the day I found out it weren’t no metaphor.
