In today’s update, Joseph Bayeaux actually looks kinda terrifying for the first time in this entire chapter.

It was a bit difficult to sell this genteel fellow in a flatcap and wellies as a legitimate threat – up to this point he was more a vehicle for character assassinating a particular brand of modern architect that I personally (perhaps unfairly) despise. But I’m really glad I caught that moment in the fifth panel when he smirks at the reader – it emerged by accident, really, but it was absolutely crucial to nailing the depths of this man’s loathing for the world that made Si possible.
