Chapter 3 – Page 079
Maybe instead of “tube drivers should be paid the same as everyone else”, how about “everyone else should be paid the same as tube drivers”? Eh? Eh? Makes you think, dunnit?

Panel 1:
Nancy and Si rise as the doors open and everyone crowds out.
NANCY: That little adventure sure took a turn towards the end, didn’t it?
SI: Yeah, but...how did the driver know when to-?
Panel 2:
Same view. Everyone stops as the driver makes her appearance. She looks like she has something to say.
IYAWA: A-hem.
Panel 3:
Closeup of Iyawa, she’s put on a rictus smile and clasped her hands in mock appreciation.
IYAWA: “Gosh, isn’t it great that a driver who knew what she was doing was on-board? I’m so glad our lives weren’t at the tender mercy of an algorithm run by a bureaucrat who values timetables over people!”
IYAWA: “That brave individual deserves a raise and as much holiday as she needs! And we’d certainly never dream of character assassinating her in the papers every time she makes a stand for her paltry rights in a way that mildly inconveniences me!”
Panel 4:
Same view. Iyawa very tersely makes a stand.
IYAWA: I want a written apology from each and every single one of you.
IYAWA: In triplicate.
IYAWA: And I don’t want to hear a peep from you whenever we close a line for maintenance.
Panel 5:
The other passengers gather for an after-action report. Hanifah is withering. Si is conversing with Mayweather, who has an arm around Lena’s shoulders.
HANIFAH: Yes, driver, we’re all very impressed with you. Well done.
SI: So what are you going to do now you, like, exist again?
MAYWEATHER: Haven’t decided, but luckily Lena here has just broken up with her girlfriend so I’ll be bunking up with her till I figure myself out.
Panel 6:
Same view. Lena is doubled over laughing while Mayweather stares blankly into space. Chambers arrives with walkie-talkie in hand to converse with Nancy.
MAYWEATHER: That came out wrong.
CHAMBERS: Hey, uh, so I’ve picked up some radio chatter that reinforcements are on their way here. Our arrival must have tipped off the Palendra. You might want to make yourself scarce.
