Chapter 4 – Page 011
Eagle-eyed readers may have seen these GO! LEM adverts milling about the background since Chapter One. This has been a very long con.
↓ Transcript
Panel 1:
Nancy and Si peer down at the street. There’s a giant sign advertising GO! LEM right behind them both.
NANCY: If it was as easy as tracking down who was buying them out, Wording would’ve pulled that thread by now.
NANCY: No, the Malign Forces of Randomness are sneaky but also vain, they would’ve left clues for the trained conspiracist to follow.
Panel 2:
Same view. Nancy paces back and forth, as Si twigs the sign above them.
NANCY: The golem myth originates from the Prague Ghetto, maybe there’s a Czech connection?
NANCY: There’s an exhibition in the Tate Modern showcasing a Czech-Jewish painter of Constructivist Neo-Surrealist art.
Panel 3:
Same view. Nancy’s really getting into her theorising as Si stands, taking in the obviousness of the sign.
NANCY: And the Tate Modern is funded by various fossil fuel companies, who as we all know are suppressing zero-point energy in order to perpetuate their monopoly!
NANCY: Of course! It’s all coming together!
Panel 4:
Same view. Si is tugging Nancy’s sleeve but Nancy is too wrapped up in her own theories to pay Si any heed.
NANCY: But why Brick Lane, though? There must be some connection.
SI: Nancy…
NANCY: Golem. Clay. Bricks. Maybe zero-point energy requires an abundance of ceramics?
SI: Nancy!
NANCY: What?!
Panel 5:
Same view. Nancy finally gets Si to look at the sign.
Panel 6:
Same view. Nancy is in a huff, almost insulted.
NANCY: I feel that the “too obvious” defence stands here.
