Chapter 4 – Page 015
“What’s a nice, inoffensive piece of art we can decorate the house with? I know, Saturn Devouring His Children! That won’t serve as a metaphor at all…”

Panel 1 (wide):
Outside the Berkeley residence, Wording’s detective car parks nearby with Russell and Solomon inside.
LEWIS: This is such a waste of time.
DES: The guv thinks there’s more to the Berkeleys, so we check the Berkeleys. Ours not to reason why and all that.
LEWIS: What does he even expect us to find?
DES: How should I know? I don’t have a window into the guy’s head!
LEWIS: We’ve had this place under surveillance since Pandora started. If anything was ever going to come up, it would’ve done so by now.
DES: You know as well as I do that surveillance doesn’t catch everything. Sometimes it needs the human touch.
DES: That used to be your area of expertise.
LEWIS: Till I started shooting at people?
DES: That was the awkward subtext I was trying to dance around, yes.
Panel 2:
Russell and Solomon enter the house and greet Liddy and William Berkeley, who are both extremely blond. They seem broadly happy to see each other.
LEWIS: Evening! Mr and Mrs Berkeley! Detectives Russell and Solomon, Pandora, I believe we’ve met before?
LIDDY: Oh yes! I hope nothing bad’s happened?
DES: No, no, just checking up on you, making sure you’re alright!
Panel 3:
Liddy and William come over chummy if awkward. Their well-built teenage son John is mostly just awkward, lingering behind them.
WILLIAM: Um...thank you! That’s very nice of you!
WILLIAM: Can’t say we have much to report, but we’re happy you’re looking out for us!
LIDDY: Isn’t it dreadful, what happened to that child? I hope she gets the help she needs.
Panel 4:
Russell takes a special interest in John, who averts his gaze.
DES: We’re working hard to find her, Mrs Berkeley. Any information you have would be very helpful.
LIDDY: I’m not sure how much help we could be, officer. I still don’t know why that girl was so fixated on us.
WILLIAM: Telling us we lost a daughter we never had. It was very upsetting for all of us.
Panel 5:
Same view. Russell perks up with a proposal.
LEWIS: Tell you what, how about I leave you in the capable hands of Detective Soloman here while I keep the youngster entertained.
LIDDY: Oh! Um…
WILLIAM: Sure, I don’t see why not!
LIDDY: Yes...don’t see why not.
