You and me both, Nancy. You and me both.
↓ Transcript
Panel 1:
Nancy emerges from a fire escape into the party, looking extremely nervous.
NANCY (box): C’mon, Nancy. You were in a nightclub, like, recently.
NANCY (box): Admittedly in an adversarial setting, but you should be used to it by now, you know what to expect.
NANCY (box): The noise.
NANCY (box): The heat.
NANCY (box): The people.
NANCY (box): So.
NANCY (box): Many.
NANCY (box): People.
Panel 2:
Nancy looks up at E-D on the stage. The self-obsessed techlord is in his own dj-ing world.
NANCY (box): Focus!
NANCY (box): There he is, on the stage. There’s no way to get to him right now, you need to linger round the edges and somehow run into him between sessions.
Panel 3:
Nancy charges into the maelstrom, the one visible human in a sea of bodies.
NANCY (box): You can do that.
NANCY (box): Easy!
NANCY (box): Just mingle! You’ve mingled before! You were half your age then, but it’s in your skillset, it’s just…
Panel 4 inset:
An elbow digs through Nancy’s sleeve, sparking a critical reaction under Nancy’s skin.
Panel 4:
Nancy cringes. Being physically close to people is painful to her.
NANCY (box): Nngh!
NANCY (box): ...hard to…
NANCY (box): ...keep my distance…
Panel 5:
Nancy, surrounded by people, is flagging, rubbing her temples as if suffering a headache.
NANCY (box): This din is breaking through my ear buds.
NANCY (box): Hard to think straight/clearly.
NANCY (box): Wait…”straight” or “clearly”? Which word/one was it?
Panel 6 (diagonal):
Nancy is disappearing into the mob. The elbows are multiplying, possibilities extending.
NANCY (box): No, no, too much/many!
NANCY (box): Let me out!
Panel 7 (diagonal):
Nancy struggles in panic. The mob has turned into static fuzz.
NANCY (box): Let me out!
