Panel 1:
Nancy and Carol face each other, Nancy trying to rid herself of Carol as fast as possible while Carol still thinks she has something of a chance.
NANCY: Oh yeah, totally, that’s great.
NANCY: Hey, uh, you want something from the bar? I was gonna go grab a...Red Bull? And vodka? Red Bull and vodka?
CAROL: Heh! You haven’t been to a club in a while, have you?
NANCY: Was it that obvious?
Panel 2:
Nancy sidles past Carol as Carol eyes her up. Her urgency leads her to drop her guard.
CAROL: Look, I feel ya, I missed out on a whole bunch of clubbing too cuz of that quantum thing. I’m as new to this as you are.
CAROL: It’s how you carry yourself, y’know? Act like you own the place, that’s my strategy.
NANCY: Easy for you to say.
NANCY: I’ve got a...condition. Touching things makes me...feel bad.
Panel 3:
Nancy turns to face Carol. They haven’t quite joined the dots yet, but it’s close.
CAROL: Ow, that sucks. How’d that happen?
NANCY: Rather not talk about it.
NANCY: ...hey, what quantum thing did you get caught up in that made you miss all that clubbing? “Long ago and not long ago?”
Panel 4 (narrow):
We just see Carol’s eyes. She’s made Nancy.
CAROL: ...rather not talk about it.
Panel 5 (narrow):
We just see Nancy’s eyes. She’s made Carol.
NANCY: ...fancy that.
Panel 6:
Nancy retreats very carefully from Carol.
NANCY: Two vodka-and-Red-Bulls, coming right up, “Carol.”
CAROL: Looking forward to it…
Panel 7:
Carol watches Nancy vanish into the crowd, cross-armed.
CAROL: …”Natalie.”
