In my experience brotherly love doesn’t go quite as far as homunculus love.

Panel 1:
Lewis is getting a bit more dour.

LEWIS: …I got to thinking about this theoretical little sister of the Berkely family, if Simar’s claims are true and she was wrenched from reality one day.

LEWIS: Our team travelled through some bizarre landscapes when we were chasing the lost Jubilee Line train.

Panel 2:
Carol’s eyes are narrowed in the foreground, while Lewis expounds as far as the limits of their presence allow.

LEWIS: I even encountered someone else who had been scrubbed from reality. A teacher, with extensive know-how to fall back on in order to survive, and even she was a nervous wreck of her former non-self.

LEWIS: A child, enmeshed in this unfamiliar nowhere-land, would have fared even worse.

Panel 3 (wide):
A flashback scene of young Alice Berkely, alone in The Storm, being protected from the ravages of infinite static by her older brother John in a young Alice Berkely package.

LEWIS (box): So she calls upon this nowhere-land to manifest someone to protect her. Her older brother, who’d always looked after her.

LEWIS (box): But she only had herself as a template.

LEWIS (box): So now there exists a simulacrum of her older brother who needs to inject testosterone in his stomach every night to stop him turning into her.

Panel 4:
Lewis approaches Carol. He’s getting more assertive.

LEWIS: The teacher hitched a ride with Brilligan, but these siblings could have found their own way out, her creation striving to be as true a brother as the one she left behind.

LEWIS: But on finding there was no true brother to start with, the creation wonders. What even is he? What collection of traits did she imagine him to have that bore any relation to fact?

Panel 5:
Lewis scowls. Carol’s at her absolute limit.

LEWIS: Are they tied by familial love, or are they tied like Frankenstein’s monster was to a witless medical student who was way out of his depth?

LEWIS: Why, when the chips are down, should he do a single thing she tells him to?

CAROL: That tears it…
