Panel 1 (wide):
Nancy is mindblown by a single String pulse.
SI (box): ‘Y’know, in all this time, I dun’t fink you’ve ever actually told me what the String really is.’
NANCY (box): ‘Because you can’t. It’s like explaining what sound is to a deaf person.’
NANCY (box): ‘It’s the single-note symphony that rings through reality. It can be plucked, strummed, tweaked and retuned, but only at the cost of your sanity.’
NANCY (box): ‘It is a beautiful, terrible, fragile, omnipotent thing, sought by priests, poets and physicists all, but it cannot, must not, ever be touched, lest all we hold dear be unravelled.’
Panel 2:
While Nancy is having her moment under Terry’s tutelage, Alice holds an ear to a reader that looks remarkably like a string instrument.
NANCY (box): ‘And of all the people I could have dragged into it, random chance had to pick a bloody musician.’
Panel 3:
Same view. Alice plucks “The Entertainer” on the instrument, alarming Nancy and Terry both.
ALICE: Haha, lookat it go!
TERRY: Oi! Gerroff!
Panel 4:
Terry wanders up to Alice, near the pit, as Nancy takes off her headphones. Alice has an “ain’t I a stinker” face.
ALICE: Oh, din’t I mention? I play violin. Super good at it. Not ta brag. Hashtag sorrynotsorry…
ALICE: Jus’...y’woz talking about “String” this and “String” that and I woz thinking…mebbe we could music up a solution to this thing?
NANCY & TERRY: Don’t be childish.
NANCY: Wait…
Panel 5:

ALICE: So, since I’m stuck here, guess I’d better shove off.
ALICE: Since I been pushed off the side.
ALICE: No fun at all, gettin’ shoved inta the pit…
