Panel 1:
Terry picks Alice up by the scruff of her neck. Alice has to think fast.
ALICE: Nnnn…
ALICE: …nuh…Nancy! The calibrator!
Panel 2:
Terry glances over at Nancy, who’s busy using a console as a climbing frame and staunching the bleeding from her nose. She doesn’t look ready to be in the spotlight.
NANCY: Huh?
ALICE: Machine’s ready, right?!
ALICE: Just punch in the numbers and I’m gone!
Panel 3:
Nancy turns to the console and starts pressing random buttons. Terry tosses Alice aside and makes for her. Nancy’s bloodshot eyes are starting to get static-y.
NANCY: Uh…’course! I’ll get on it!
SI (box): ‘Way ta keep up the act, David Blaine.’
NANCY (box): ‘Gimme some leeway, I had seconds till he beat me to a pulp, and seconds more till he realised Alice was making a feint and beat her to a pulp.’
Panel 4:
From Nancy’s POV, the console is a ghastly blur, with several hands hovering, several panels showing several values, and several looming shadows creeping from several directions.
NANCY (box): ‘And to add to the complications: I was concussed, my glasses were gone, and I was coming down with a bad case of Schrodinger’s bat.’
Panel 5:
Nancy screws her eyes shut and covers her ears, crowding out the noise.
SI (box): ‘Aaaaand…it was in that moment ya looked inside yerself an’ harnessed the power within?’
Panel 6:
In crystal negative mode, Nancy perfectly perceives the bat coming down on her as she blindly, deafly focuses, the String striking through the frame.
NANCY (box): ‘...yeah, sure, let’s go with that.’
