Panel 1:
Nancy, summoning all that’s left of her strength, rises to see what’s befallen Si, who’s lying prostrate on the ground before Carol.
NANCY: Si!
NANCY: What happened?!
Panel 2:
Si sits up, the ruins of her violin around her, rubbing her temples and looking dazed.
SI: I can’t…
SI: ...iss not...
Panel 3:
Si’s eyes snap open in an awful panic, hands trembling. She looks visibly dimmer than a second ago.
SI: ...wot…
SI: ...wot did ya…do ta me?
Panel 4:
Same view. A shadow rises over dumbfounded Si as Carol ascends.
CAROL (off-panel): To be honest, the conduit in your mind was surplus to requirements for a while.
CAROL (off-panel): Not sure why I left it there, really. An excuse to meet and catch up?
Panel 5 (wide):
Carol rises, collecting the strings together in a swirling diagram of interlocking 1s and 0s. Nancy continues to stagger forward in an effort to intercept.
CAROL: It’s been fun, but I’ll be deleting your number, if it’s all the same.
CAROL: We must put away childish things.
CAROL: And look through a glass.
CAROL: Darkly.
