Panel 1 (wide):
Nansi breaks open the front door of the reception with her rounders bat. She’s wearing the coat she picked up in Sports Direct. It’s a few sizes too big. She’s future-proofing.
SI (box): We worked our fingers to the bone, helping these people.
SI (box): No thanks, no solace, just abuse.
SI (box): Then one day they hand it all to a dictator so they don’t have to think about it anymore.
SI (box): So screw ‘em.
NANCY (box): You realise you can’t go home, right?
Panel 2 (wide):
Nansi steps out into the damp night, sliding the rounders bat into a belt in her jacket behind her back.
SI (box): ...oh my god, that’s why you tried to pack me off, isn’t it?
SI (box): Jealousy. I had a home to go back to and you didn’t. No use denying it, you’re in my brain now.
NANCY (box): I think I’ve had enough of fleeting moments of jealousy ruining people’s lives.
NANCY (box): But too late now. We’re both in the same boat.
SI (box): “We?”
Panel 3 (wide):
Nansi ploughs her hands in her pockets, staring ahead through broken goggles.
NANCY (box): Yeah, kinda redundant, innit?
SI (box): This dialogue’s been a monologue for a while.
SI/NANCY (box): Farewell, plural tense.
NANSI (box): Hello “me”.
