Fun fact: the Thameslink train I take to and from work goes through this defunct station outside King’s Cross every day. Every time, I imagine the driver must be suppressing the desire to stop there for a laugh.

Also, I echo Lewis’ advice here to stop giving transphobic hacks money.

Panel 1 (wide):
Pandora has emerged in the abandoned King’s Cross Thameslink. Light barely penetrates the crumbling relic of a not-too-distant past. Sam is curious, Des is gawping, Lewis is incensed.

WORDING: How long has this station been here and I’ve never realised?

SOLOMON: Wowww! Is this the original Platform Nine-and-Three-Quarters?

RUSSELL: Read!

RUSSELL: Other!

RUSSELL: Books!

Panel 2:
Standing at the platform, the three natter while waiting for the cleaning train.

WORDING: Right, people, this is proof of concept for us. We don’t just need to capture Brilligan, we need to solve this problem before she does.

RUSSELL: The last few cases have involved a perpetrator with a clear motive. Granted that won’t be the case every time, but…

SOLOMON: We’ll be better able to brainstorm ideas once we punch through to wherever this train is hiding.

SFX (between panels): zhooooOOOOOOMMMM

Panel 3:
A shadow falls over the three. Sam droops, Lewis claps excitedly, while Des just finds this all very funny.

WORDING: Assuming this bin lorry on tracks doesn’t get punched out from under us.

MATINDER (off-panel): I’d have you not talk of Molly in such ways! She’s very sensitive!

Panel 4:
We look up at old Tube hand Matinder Singh driving the clapped out cleaning train. He’s a jovial soul, but very prideful.

WORDING (off-panel): Dear god in heaven you named your train.

MATINDER: Oh, I am but her latest servant!

MATINDER: Do not fret! I’ve driven every engine the English have built since the Darjeeling Limited. We’ll get you where you need to be!

Panel 5:
Des is charmed on board by Matinder while Sam and Lewis clamber on behind her. Sam is yelling into the radio.

RUSSELL: Don’t be too confident, even we don’t know where we need to be.

WORDING: Control, this is Pandora! Everything ready at your end?

DENNIS (radio): Ready when you are! The track has been cleared all the way to the York Street siding!
